A Sydney woman has taken the next brave step in her career, by self-publishing a guide on how to be successful.

Prue Carter describes herself as a 'freelance communications consultant,' but she admits she hasn't had a job in a while.

"I've just been working my social media hard and having lunch meetings," she says.

And, while waiting for the right opportunity to come along, the 35 year old decided to write a book.

"I'm at that stage of my career where I felt I could share some of the things I've learnt. Sometimes it's just good to reflect a little bit."

"Also, I saw Tracey Jewel from MAFS did one, so I thought, what the heck."

Prue Carter's book release was delayed slightly by her bad hair day.

"Unfortunately it conflicted with the date set aside to photograph me for the front cover," she says. "But expect to see the book soon."
