The NSW government has announced that the Sydney Opera House will be renamed 'Alan Jones House.'
"We're excited to dedicate this landmark to a man so instrumental in forming the views of Sydney's taxi drivers," says Premier Gladys Berejiklian. "This is a celebration of Sydney and a media icon."
The 2 year renaming deal, said to be worth $150 million a year, involves mounting an Alan Jones' headshot onto the main sail of the Opera House, as well as the 2GB radio station logo.
"This is an exciting development for the Sydney Harbour precinct," says the Premier. "We believe it will also make it much easier for taxi drivers to know where the Opera House is."
The iconic landmark's renaming will also involve Alan Jones' breakfast radio show being broadcast through the entire facility every morning.
"We have requested that all performance rehearsals be put on hold between 5.30am and 9am when Alan's show goes to air," says Gladys Berejiklian. "That way everyone within the Opera House can listen in."
The renaming is due to take effect on November 18.
