The USA has followed Australia's lead by allowing brands to take over national treasures.

After the NSW government allowed a horse race to advertise on the Opera House, the US President has signed a deal for the Statue of Liberty to hold an oversized Budweiser beer bottle.

"I'd like to personally thank Australian lawmakers for giving us this idea," says Donald Trump. "We cant believe we didn't think of it earlier."

An artists impression shows how engineers in the US plan to slightly reconfigure the Statue of Liberty's hand, allowing it to grip a 30 metre tall bottle of beer.

"This is a great step forward in utilising public monuments," says Donald Trump. "It's important to extract value wherever we can."

Washington's deal with Budweiser worth $750 million dollars, will see the Statue of Liberty holding the bottle for 2 years starting on December 14.

Double Bay Today understands French regulators are now working on a similar deal for a tobacco brand to advertise on the Eiffel Tower.

More to come.
