Elderly Woman Tries Initiating Human Contact By Talking To Stranger About The Royals

A Sydney retiree has reportedly tried to strike up a conversation with a stranger about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

32 year old Brooke Smedley was at Coles Edgecliff choosing pears when the elderly woman next to her suddenly tried talking about the Royals.

"It didn't feel relevant to anything which was happening," says Brooke Smedley. "I'm also a republican, but I gave a cordial smile to acknowledge the lovely old woman."

Unperturbed, the elderly lady then tried to prolong the human contact, by saying she hopes the Dubbo locals give Prince Harry and Meghan Markle a warm reception.

Brooke Smedley told Double Bay Today she was left with no choice but to pretend to care about what the woman was saying.

"I told her that I'm sure they'll have a great time in Dubbo and quickly made my way to the check out."

Those looking to steer clear of the pedestrian banter are urged to avoid the old lady.

Her identity is unknown, but she's wearing a grey jacket and dark rimmed glasses.
