The Prime Minister is calling for Channel Nine to immediately axe its reality TV show Married At First Sight.
"The MAFS experts are psychologists, they're meant to help people, but instead they're ruining people's lives," says Scott Morrison.
The current season of MAFS has seen a number of cheating scandals, but instead of shutting them down, the MAFS experts and producers have chosen to facilitate them.
"This is not a scientific experiment. This is a rating experiment," says the Prime Minister. "Just because the experts sometimes wear white lab coats, it doesn't make them any more ethical."
Scott Morrison acknowledges that it's rare for a Prime Minister to intervene on reality TV shows.
"But this show is a fucking joke," he says. "My heart goes out to Tamara, Mick and Elizabeth, who have been cheated on, in front of the entire nation."
He says federally government funded support services will be made available to all three.
Channel Nine was not immediately available for comment.
More to come.
