The University of NSW has become the world's first tertiary institution to offer classes on understanding parking signs.
"Here at UNSW we're all about innovation," says the UNSW Dean of Parking Sciences, Prof. Richard Clearway. "That's why we're excited to release our groundbreaking new field of study."
The comprehensive three year full-time PhD course launched earlier this year.
It's already fully enrolled by students keen to understand Sydney's complex and convoluted parking signs.
"It's a very intense course," says student Jack Dyson. "My end goal is to equip myself with the knowledge to hopefully avoid some parking fines."
As part of the course, key councillors from the City of Sydney are coming to lectures to speak to students.
"We're also taking groups of students on walking tours through the CBD to show them some of the most complex signs," says Prof. Richard Clearway.
The first batch of graduates are expected in 2022.
